Team Macklin Running for The Alzheimer’s Society

Run Forest, Run! Team Macklin's Fitness is put to the Test at the Belfast City Deep River Rock Marathon 2016
Thousands of runners took to the streets to take part in the Deep River Rock Belfast Marathon 2016, and included in those thousands were the one and only – Team Macklin!! Our wonderful staff put themselves through the paces, spending countless nights pounding the pavements in preparation for this year’s marathon.
The chosen charity was The Alzheimer’s Society, as it’s very close to our heart. We deal with people everyday who suffer from this so we understand how important their work is. In 2015/16, for every £1 donated, 89p was spent on directly improving the lives of people with dementia. The other 11p goes towards generating future income.
Last year, their income increased from £90.7 million to £97.9 million. They spent 12% more on their work meeting the needs of people affected by dementia, inspiring change and advancing research which directly helped over 100,000 people. These figures are so promising, and we only hope they increase in the future.
We had a few sore legs and feet the following day, but it was most certainly worth it. Congratulations to everyone who took part in this year’s Belfast Marathon and helped Macklin Care Homes raise a staggering £1500 for The Alzheimer’s Society!
