Cake Bake Sale in Aid of Suicide Awareness

Cake Bake Sale in aid of Suicide Awareness

6th October 2017

Park Manor worked wonders at baking tempting treats all for a worthy cause

Paula Drumm (Administrator), Babs Oliver (Senior Care Assistant) and Laura Campbell (Senior Nurse) from Park Manor got together to organise a cake bake sale in aid of Suicide Awareness. They channelled their inner Mary Berry and prepared some tasty goodies for the day.

The cake bake sale took place on Boucher Crescent, Belfast, on a busy Saturday Afternoon. The hungry passers-by couldn’t resist indulging in the baked goods on display (of course in return for a charitable donation). There was everything from swiss rolls, shortbread, iced buns, muffins, french fancies and even slimming world banana and coconut baked oat cakes for those watching their waistline!

The final total raised was an impressive £668.00. Park Manor also had a coffee morning for residents and staff in aid of Suicide Awareness at the nursing home in Dunmurry and raised £100.00. Sunday 8th October will see another amazing effort of fundraising for the charity as the staff from Park Manor and the team at head office will abseil down the Europa Hotel.

The Suicide Awareness Support Group delivers bereavement support to those bereaved by suicide and organise a bridging support structure for those recently bereaved.  They provide intervention services for those at risk of suicide and endeavour to raise the issue of suicide prevention to ultimately help reduce the suicide rate.
